ABSTRACT: THE IMPACT OF GLOBAL TRADE AGREEMENTS ON THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
This research aims to: 1) evaluate the effects of global trade agreements on business growth; 2) analyze the impact on competitive dynamics; and 3) assess the long-term benefits of trade agreements for businesses. A survey research design is selected to capture extensive data. Using Taro Yamane’s formula, the sample size of 330 businesses, including export-oriented companies, is determined. Lagos, being a major trade hub, is the chosen location. The survey instruments achieve a reliability coefficient score of 0.86. Findings reveal that global trade agreements significantly enhance business growth, reshape competitive dynamics, and provide long-term benefits such as market access and reduced trade barriers. The study recommends that businesses engage in policy advocacy to influence favorable trade agreements and leverage these agreements for strategic growth.
